My Winter BFF's

With the season's first snowfall this past Saturday, I thought it would be fitting to share my beauty go-to's for the wintertime. Whether the name of your game is to moisturize religiously during the bitter cold season, or to stock up on any and every leave-in conditioner, maybe one of my favorite products will become your winter BFF too.

Honestly I think if there are any beauty habits that you are going to practice during the winter months, moisturizing should be your #1. Personally, I have rather sensitive skin and there is nothing worse for it than the contrast of the cold winds outside and the dry, blasting heat vent in my apartment (don't get me wrong, I am grateful for the warmth). However, to save my skin from suffering under these circumstances, I always make sure to moisturize. For my face, I use Aveeno's Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer, and for my body I use their Positively Radiant Body Lotion. Both products have a subtle scent and they are pretty inexpensive. I don't think you need to splurge on $100 moisturizer, I just think you need one that likes your skin and gets the job done.

Where there is dry skin there are probably chapped lips, and this is never a good combination. Although, I have found that Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm + French Girl Le Lip Tint is a perfect combination. I am a huge advocate for always having chapstick on hand, Burt's Bees just happens to be my favorite. And what's winter without a pretty, berry colored tint on your lips? Le Lip Tint by French Girl Cosmetics in the shade Cerise is perfectly moisturizing and gives that perfect bitten-lip effect that works for any skin tone, thanks to it's sheer finish.

I have come to accept that fly-aways are inevitable, especially during the winter. Thankfully, there is an easy fix for static (run a dryer sheet over your hair) but fly-aways seem to stick around... how ironic. I've tried various leave-in conditioner's, the high-end and the low-end, but so far my favorite is the Whipped Cream Leave-In Conditioner by milk_shake. I always shower at night and let my hair air dry while I sleep to avoid blow drying it, so this is the perfect leave-in conditioner for me. It leaves my hair soft and silky, and it smells AMAZING.

4. LUSH Rose Jam Shower Gel

This is especially important to note because for whatever reason, LUSH only releases their Rose Jam Shower Gel during the Christmas season (!!!). I keep my eye out for this each year because I am already obsessed with their Rose Jam Bubblebar (yes, I still take bubble baths on occasion). Not only is this shower gel made from all natural ingredients, but it smells great and leaves my skin feeling super soft. I'm waiting on the day that they have this year round so I don't have to buy a million bottles once a year.

xx, N
