4 Outfit Ideas for New Year's Eve (That Don't Include Sequins or Velvet)
How is it that Christmas is already over and New Year’s Eve is right around the corner? If you find out LMK. This year has flown by so fast and it feels like life is just getting started. For me, 2018 has been a year of transition. I am finally what some would consider an adult. All my life I couldn’t wait to grow up and now that I am in the midst of just that, I can’t help but miss the days when life was a bit more simple and the biggest bill I had to pay was for my Netflix account. But I am also incredibly grateful for all that 2018 and “adulthood” has brought into my life, from starting this blog to finding a career that I love- and of course memories with family and friends!
Now, as much as we all love a little velvet or sequins here and there, I can’t imagine getting ready to ring in the new year wearing an old style. Call me crazy but why not start off the coming year in something classic yet fresh to set the tone for the future to come. I know I’m not the only one who hypes up the occasion so while we may admit that New Year’s Eve celebrations/parties/etc. are generally disappointing year after year, who’s to say that your outfit has to be?
PS, if you are looking for a place to celebrate here in boston, scroll to the bottom of this blog post and follow the link for tickets to the Resolution Ball, hosted by @bostoneventg at the @westincopleyplaceboston. it’s gonna be a great time (and definitely not disappointing). See you there!

As much as I have been trying to avoid the influence of 90s fashion the past 2-3 years, it keeps on coming back! While I can’t say 90s grunge will ever be my thing, there are some fashion gems that the decade brought back to life- for example the simplicity of those silk dresses and delicate silhouettes that automatically look classy and elegant.
LBD + Bold Lip
Why not save a dime and whip out that LBD sitting in your closet that you know you look great in? Grab a slightly more bold lip color than you usually go for or pair your dress with an ever classic red lip to make your look feel fresh. After all, the french are all about a red or berry colored lip when the occasion permits and who dresses for a party better than they do?
If the shoe fits
If a bold lip isn’t your thing, maybe statement shoes are. I don’t know when mini dresses and knee high boots came back into style but I can’t say I’m too mad about it. Over the knee boots seem to be phasing out for now and while i do love them, when you’re 5’2” sometimes they are a bit too much sauce. I first noticed this a few months back on a few Instagram posts here and there and thought to myself, “could this really be happening?!” On numerous occasions I have glanced over to the pair of Dolce Vita knee high boots in my closet that have been collecting dust for the past few years. I considered selling these a few different times but I knew there would eventually be a time where I could wear them again... and here we are!
blouse + jeans
IDK about you but where I live, it is not dress weather on NYE. Old Levi’s, heels, and a fancy blouse might be my go to this year if I am going to brave the cold. Tuck in a well tailored top to a perfect fitting pair of jeans, throw on your best heels, and you will look effortlessly classy without even trying (at least that is what I am hoping for)!
